  1.     Archiving Golfer Result Files                          FILE: FA.HLP

  3.     At the end of each summary period, it is necessary to "clean-out" 
  4.     the old  results so that the file for the next period contains 
  5.     results only from    that period.  To do this, you could simply 
  6.     delete the old file and start   a new one.  This is fine if you do 
  7.     not plan on going back at the end of the year to see where you've 
  8.     been.  Besides, the cost of a good quality disk is not worth 
  9.     scrimping.

  11.     Archiving a file means RENAME.  If you are familiar with DOS, then 
  12.     this is immediately clear to you.   All that DBK does to the file is 
  13.     rename it so  that your next period entry will create a new file 
  14.     using the same old name. 
  15.                                                                               
  16.     Archiving a file is done using the Combine/Split Facility.  This is 
  17.     accessed through the Main Menu Utility option.
  18.                                                                                
  19.     All that is needed is a new name and DBK will rename the current 
  20.     period file for you.  Do not forget that this should be done AFTER 
  21.     you have summarized the file and have indicated to DBK that this was 
  22.     an end-of-period summary.

  24.     Archiving files is a good DBK practice and takes only a couple of 
  25.     minutes. It is suggested that after each month, you use this option 
  26.     to protect your data investment.
